Planted Parenting was founded in 2017, by Trish, when she saw a gap for parents and educators needing support to guide and partner with children who’s behaviour seemed explosive, challenging and difficult to understand. From a place of social media bombarding us with opinions and judgement, rather than evidenced based and practiced based evidence, Planted Parenting was created to encourage more understanding and inclusivity of all neurotypes in homes around the world.

Through a tailored in-person or Zoom consult, we can equip you with the sensory strategies and behaviour support approaches, to help shift the tone in your home and classroom to a more positive one. You may require a one-off session, or benefit from ongoing occupational therapy sessions, after the initial strategies have been introduced to you. Both options are available. |

Through an initial screening session with you and then your child, we can determine what types of Occupational Therapy support your child would benefit from, and book you in ongoing sessions with our team for a combination of Occupational Therapy sessions and Therapy Assistant sessions to get the most out of your funding.

NEW program…
Embrace all you are, embrace how you were made (with all the cool and interesting ways your brain and body work and respond to the world), and in the process be embraced by those around you.
Do you ever feel as a parent, that you are drowning/ paddling like a frog in a bucket of cream praying to becomes butter any second now so you can hop out underwater/ hopping like one thing from one thing to the next like a squirrel that has way too much caffeine while people around you are watching you like a freak show/ are feel so inundated by parenting due to your neurotype or killer mental load, that you feel like running into the hills to be a hermit in a hut where no kids make noise and you can just live in peace?
I mean it may not even be that extreme, but the Embrace program was created by our director Trish, who was a late diagnosed ADHDer, and felt all those vibes described above. Desperate to know what were the key indications/ traits that shows exactly what ‘crushing life and thriving’ looked like, vs ‘drowning and being up the creek without a paddle’, and being able to self check in as well as communicate this to her wonderful and well meaning hubby; she started a bloody epic list on her bathroom mirror that he and her kids added to! Now this list along with a zillion other things (no joke) are part of the exploration process Trish does in the first of 5 sessions of the Embrace program.
How does it work: overwhelmed parents are desperate for a hand/ a leg up/ some help, any help! The embrace program is done over 5 sessions with Trish via Telehealth (zoom)- so you can wear you comfy/ drink whatever beverage of choice from a fancy glass, or dial in from under the doona coz your ADHD paralysis is kicking you hard. Body doubling is a huge bit of the program, or even better if your partner (if you have one in the mix) or bestie, or support animal (or support lollies) can be there too.
Each session is capped at 50 minutes face to face (unless Trish has flex to go a bit longer, and only if you consent at the time to staying in the moment a bit longer- and pay for the extra time too).
Pricing is as per the per session costings on our service agreement that you will be sent after you enquire and book. If you have NDIS self or Plan Managed funding for yourself, or your child, chat to Trish directly how you could be eligible to use your funding for there Occupational Therapy Sessions. If you are electable for Medicare, you can access a 5 session rebate through and EPC or CDMP that your GO writes and you email to us.
But to help out your need to financially plan it in, roughly:
Yeah now you look at that figure, you may think: I could run away for a few nights away on that costing- but the question is, that weekend away may give you a mini break, but will it give you the practical tools to identify your signs of thriving/ dying, know what helps you in the moment, and be able to explicitly communicate those needs to others, loop all this new found learning in with your partner/ bestie/ mum that lives with you that is trying to help you survive? The answer is probably not.
Look, Trish even admits to loving a good girls weekend or some retail therapy as a fabulous way to nourish yourself and love yourself- and if you want to use your hard earned money to do that, please do! But bandaids fall off! Self discovery with an OT who has lived it and breathed it, will continue to pay it forward for the rest of your days.
How the sessions look:
Session 1: Thriving and Dying. In this session we explore (with zero judgement) what each of those areas looks like from the outside, and feels like on the inside- for YOU. Everyone is different.
Session 2: Chasing Dopamine- what helps you? In this session we workout what helps you.
Session 3: Expressing needs. In this session we work out your way to communicate your needs.
Session 4 &5: Phone a friend. In this session bring a partner/ workout how to wrestle a crocodile. In this session we workshop how to integrate what we have learnt so far, into life with others- your partner and or children
Session 5: Workshop it. In this session we tie it all together with a ribbon.
Ideally we do a session every week at 8pm on an evening that works for you and Trish (go read her bio, there is yet to be a person she hadn’t been able to connect with, in fact I’m pretty sure she befriended the new guy at her servo in his first shift the other week and now he’s giving her restaurant recommendations!!). But if you want to hammer it out sooner or stretch it out, she’s pretty accomodating.
Argh….you are feeling the pinch of life? This program can be covered under Medicare for a partial rebate for all 5 sessions through an EPC/ CDMP made out to Planted Parenting, for 5 Sessions of Occupational Therapy. Book in with Trish and then she will walk you through the steps. This is not a ‘life fail’ moment, reaching out to text her! - $185.49 x 5 = $927.45* all up (*if you don’t run longer in sessions or ask for an additional session/s)
