Planted Parenting is an incredible individualised Occupational Therapy support service, specialising in neuroaffirming the bejeebers out of anyone that comes through our doors. Each family member is included in part of our engagement with your chosen human for us to partner with. So don’t think all the other family members chilling at home are going to be left out- the ENTIRE FAMILY become our family (in a professionally awesome way, that does not involve family trips away!!).
Our heart is for your entire family to love your unique neuro-type (be it neurotypical or neuro-spicy or neuro-whatever brain). I think I’ll coin that last one!. Basically, we love all brains (even your dog’s)! And being a neuro-inclusive practice, however you come to us, you are welcome (even if that changes minute to minute in the session).
Is Planted Parenting a clinic? Heck NO! You are not unwell, broken and need fixing or sick. You are uniquely you and we love that! We are FASD informed as a practice, and want to ensure there is healthy attachment within the family unit, so you can all be deep rooted in your sense of self, and ability to connect with those around you as your flourish to your full capacity. You can BE THE CHANGE this world needs. It starts with us! *Trish is going through Perimenopause, so pack a jumper peeps (this is not an overshare, we are showing you we communicate our needs clearly and directly). |
Let's work together!
Planted Parenting was founded in 2017, by Tricia Lerk when she saw a gap for parents and educators needing support to guide and teach children communicating the world around them via challenging behaviours. From a place of social media bombarding us with opinions and judgement rather than evidence based support, Planted Parenting was created to encourage more inclusivity and curiosity to the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ of these behaviours.
~FAQ~ What age do we start at? Great question! Birth. What age to we get booted off the service? Also great question! Trish recognises after 18, it’s no man’s land in terms of OTs that work with our philosophy. So stay in touch and we will be a touch point until she decides to retire. (For context Trish frequently says “I’d work for free forever if rent and overheads of running a biz wasn’t so expensive!!”, and she also says “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”…so that will give the context of how professionally invested she is in each person we get the honour of supporting to love their brain and body! Will we bleed you dry financially like a subscription service you can’t cancel? Heck no people! We want to do ourselves out of a job 😂😂😂 We only want you to have what you need then go live your best life without the revolving doors of appointments with more practitioners. Wowzers coming to see you costs that much?! We may as well sell a kidney!! Well we know the phrase that ‘good help is hard to find’. And at the end of the day Trish has the rarest form of combined type ADHD the world gets to see. So her speed that she works at is the speed of Chat GPT 2025 vs every one else on dial up internet speed circa 1999. So, will you be invading her thoughts and dreams at 4am? Most definitely. Will you get a constantly changing and tailored therapy experience that suits you in the moment of every session? Absolutely! Does that means Trish has everything but the kitchen sink packed in anticipation for your needs or your child’s each session yup- she’s like Mary Poppins with her car boot and work bag that will crush her coz it’s so heavy. Do we inflate our pricing to be more than the national average? Far out- NO WAY. Trish feels so bad charging you even the NDIS charge rate that her accountant tells her off most days! So yes you will get all the care, compassion and 2 decades of clinical experience that has continued to evolve with the times at Planted Parenting. Trish is a self identifying GenX baby and while that is actually debatable date wise- she works like a horse being flogged against a brick wall and will not give up till she finds what you need. Yeah…Trish is refreshingly honest also, with a veil of compassion and tact that will support exploring yourself or your child’s neurotype, with all clinical expertise within her busy brain. |

Real ZealA podcast that you won't be able to stop listening to!
No nonsense chats on the big and little issues of life, from an ADHD perspective. This podcast is for the grown ups as it’s going to be very honest. |
Well hello! I'm Trish, proud ADHDer (late diagnosed due to people telling me I just need to be less extra all my life, and masking so much till I exploded). I’m a wife and mum of 3, in a neurodivergent family (neuro=brain, divergent=different). To be clear- we all have neurodivergent families. Each brain in each family is different. You don’t need a diagnosis on a paper to say you are part of a neurodivergent family.
I have finally found how to use all my spicy brain goodness to help others with maximum impact and I love my life so much. I call this season- my second act, and it’s literally going to be my best! I love to sing, song-write, cook, eat, drink fun drinks responsibly, go camping, dance like no one is watching, start up 20million projects at once, coin catch phrases I think I’ve invented, laugh with my gal pals till I pee my pants coz my last birth really was stretching, and do all life has to offer with my family: The Fab Five. I know we sound like superhero’s ‘The Fab Five’…BUT, tell you a secret…we are! Not all superhero’s wear capes people!!! Each of us have unique gifts and talents and my little family are no exception. With our powers combined (we don’t summon Captain Planet), we see the world as unique, diverse and beautiful together. My commitment is to get the very best out of the children that have been entrusted to you, to empower you to feel confident in parenting, and to help your child to feel as though they belong and can contribute to this wild and wonderful world. I am a passionate advocate for a child's rights, and to support families in making the most of the funding or funds they have to help their child. My passion fuels my work ethic, so you will always get 100% of my effort. |
